UN International Days

Given GYLS alignment with the UN, various UN International Days are celebrated through learning
journeys and volunteering activities for youths to be aware of the significance behind every global
cause and how they can play a role in the different movements. GYLS celebrated the Nelson Mandela
International Day this year with the High Commissioner of South Africa to Singapore, Catalyst 2030
(Asia-Pacific) and the Singapore Red Cross Academy, with a learning journey to the SDG Centre
where youths are exposed to social entrepreneurship pathways to create social impact in honour of
Mandela’s dedications to humanity.

GYLS plans to expand this commemorative series by celebrating other notable global causes as well
from International Human Rights Day to International Women’s Day throughout the year.
